Dr. James Hudson resigned his seat on the Paducah Board of Education due to his recent move outside the district boundaries. His resignation was announced at the regular meeting of the Paducah Board of Education on March 17.
Dr. Hudson was elected to the Paducah Board of Education in November 2016 and took office in January 2017, serving eight years. He also served as Vice Chair in 2022. After a long career in education in Kankakee, Illinois, Dr. Hudson served as pastor for Harrison Street Missionary Baptist Church from 2004 until his recent retirement.
“It’s obviously very sad for us to hear, what we were afraid was coming, that Dr. James Hudson had relocated as part of his life process,” Superintendent Dr. Donald Shively said. “But, as a 26-year public educator that was a teacher, school administrator, assistant superintendent, just his focus, his love, his commitment to our community is going to be a tough act to follow.”
Board members granted Dr. Hudson’s request to attend the PTHS commencement in May to hand out diplomas to students who are members of his church.
