Peyton Toon Signing

Paducah Tilghman senior Peyton Toon signed a scholarship to play golf for Centre College at a signing ceremony held at PTHS on January 31.  Peyton has played for the PTHS boys golf team since 7th grade. As a senior, Toon advanced to the state championship round of the KHSAA Golf Tournament, finishing with a 10-over-par 154.

“Peyton is a fine young man who is a very hard worker,” said PTHS Boys Golf Coach Brett Larimer. “He’s had some trials and tribulations with some injuries, but he’s made his way through. Not only is Centre College getting a good player and a good student- they’re getting a fantastic young man.”

Toon’s swing coach, Todd Butts, echoed the praise for Toon’s work ethic.

“Peyton has put in the work that’s necessary to rise to the top of the sport. He’s clearly one of the best players in the 1st region and probably one of the top 25 players in the in the state, but it came with work,” Butts said. “As proud as I am of him playing golf, I’m more proud of the experience that he’s getting ready to have.”

Toon thanked his players and coaches in his remarks.

“I want to say thank you to my mom, my dad, my swing coach, Coach Larimer, and all my friends who have helped me through this process,” said Toon. “It’s really special to be able to go on to the next level and hopefully get the chance to perform. I love Paducah Tilghman High School and I will always be a Tornado.”
