Children wearing coats pose with firefighters in a school cafeteria

Paducah Firefighters visited Morgan Elementary School on November 1 to donate coats to every first grader at Morgan Elementary. The Paducah Fire Department and IAFF Local 168 are ambassadors for Operation Warm. They partner with Morgan Elementary, Clark Elementary and McNabb Elementary.  During the giveaway firefighters help students pick out their favorite color coat and write their names on the inside of the coat.

“This is our tenth year going. It’s our favorite thing to do to get out there in the community and the kids really seem to love it,” said PFD Captain Jennifer Fuchs, one of the organizers of the event.

Operation Warm is a national program founded in 2002 that provides American-made coats to children in need. The program helps more than 300,000 children each year. Purchase of the coats are funded through donations from the firefighters and a grant from the Ray and Kay Eckstein Charitable Trust.
