Six Paducah Tilghman students finished as either state champions or state runner-ups at the Kentucky National History Day competition, which was held at the University of Kentucky on April 27.
Elena Adkins, Liam Black, and Azlyn Goodyke were named State Champions in the Senior Documentary category for their documentary Preserving What Is Easier to Neglect: Revitalization as a Turning Point for Paducah and Small Town America. They also won the Outstanding Kentucky History Award. Elena, Liam, and Azlyn have been state champion in their category all 4 years of high school and also were state champions in 3,4,5,6, and 8th grade.
Ben Coltharp and Jacob Julian won State Runner-Up in the Senior Group Website category for their website Screening Success: Television’s Influence on Advertising Evolution.
Caroline Adkins won State Runner-Up in Senior Individual Website for her website Bon Appetit: How Julia Child was a Turning Point in American Cuisine.
All six have been selected to represent Kentucky at the National Competition at the University of Maryland June 9-13.
