Fitzgerald Signing

Football defensive standout Ny’Yon Fitzgerald committed to play football at Lindsey Wilson College at a signing ceremony held at Paducah Tilghman High School on February 11.

Fitzgerald was a senior defensive lineman for the Tornado 4A State Championship team. He was picked for the Paducah Sun All-Purchase Team in 2023 and 2024. His senior season he was  fourth on the team in total tackles with 51. He tallied 20 solo tackles and 31 assisted with nine tackles for a loss and four defensive sacks. He forced two defensive fumbles.

“This is another special one for me because you’re in that first class that I coached all the way through, and you’re one of the pillars of what made that class great.” said PTHS Head Football Coach Sean Thompson. “Having this opportunity to build on what you’ve done to this point and where you’ve brought us as a program makes me proud because you get to continue that.”

In his remarks, Fitzgerald thanked his family, Coach Thompson, his teammates and the administration at PTHS. He said he’s eager to continue his football career at Lindsey Wilson and intends to pick a major once he’s at school.

“When I went on the visit, they sold me that I was at home still,” said Fitzgerald. “I really felt like everything was going to be great throughout my time there so that’s why I feel like I chose it.”
