Paducah Tilghman High School is accepting nominations for the PTHS Hall of Fame. This honor is bestowed on Lincoln High School/ Augusta Tilghman High School/Paducah Tilghman High School graduates to recognize outstanding accomplishments and to provide role models for current students. Criteria include excellence in the individual's chosen career, community service, and overall integrity     The recipient will be recognized at graduation and a portrait with a biography will hang in the Wall of Fame Hallway at Paducah Tilghman. The honor may not be bestowed posthumously. A committee will choose the recipient.  The deadline for nominations is March 29, 2024. Our staff from Paducah Middle, Clark, McNabb, and Morgan are gathered today at Paducah Middle for some peer-led professional development. It's inspiring to hear our colleagues share their skills and experience as we seek to better serve our students!

Local homeless liaison Heather Anderson from Paducah Independent was excited to share the details of a new outreach program for students experiencing homelessness in her district. This program is funded in large part by the generosity of a private donor. The Slow Cooker Outreach Program has allowed Anderson to obtain more than 60 slow cookers and basic cooking essentials for families of students experiencing homelessness. This program has been especially helpful for those families living in situations without a working kitchen. The private funding allows Anderson to serve 20 families with refrigerated or frozen meals twice a month. The meals are sourced from a local grocer who plans the menu, packages the meals, locally sources ingredients and works hard to keep the costs down. Anderson used American Rescue Plan: Homeless Children and Youth funds to obtain a cooler and freezer to store these donated foods and other donated foods for students. (No other public funding is associated with this project). Anderson believes this project has helped excite families about nutritious meals and cooking at home, while easing their budget. The Local Planning Committee of the Paducah Independent Board of Education will hold a Public Hearing to review the proposed District Facilities Plan on Thursday, March 6 at 5:30 PM, in the Board Office Seminar Room, 500 South 25th, Paducah KY 42003. The public will have the opportunity to speak, and written statements will be accepted at this time.

The PTHS Student Equity Advisory Council (SEAC) will host an Application & Information Meet and Greet Wednesday, April 10 from 2:30 - 4:00 p.m. at the Paducah Innovation Hub Seminar Room. If you are a rising 8th - 11th grade student, join us for more info about SEAC and the application process.

Eighth grade parents and students, please join us at the PTHS Auditorium on Thursday, March 21, at 6:00 p.m. for 8th Grade Transition Night. Auditorium doors open at 5:45 p.m. You will have the opportunity to learn about your 9th grade schedule, meet your teachers, and explore career pathways, clubs and activities. There will be an AP information session prior to the event at 5:30 PM in the PT Library. There will be a greeter at the auditorium entrance to let parents in for the AP session. Students must be accompanied by an adult.

Members of the Central Office team (along with our awesome Tornado mascot, Bryce Strong) were happy to join in welcoming Paducah Head Start students to the first day of classes in the new building! Be sure to join us for our official Grand Opening May 10!

Reminder: There will be no school this Friday, March 15. It will be a flexible PD day for staff.

We were honored to have Allyssa Binkley, Secondary Supervisor of Instruction for Graves County Schools (and Tilghman alum!) join us at Paducah Middle for The Amazing Shake on February 19. Here is what she said about The Amazing Shake: "What a fabulous way to spend my day at Paducah Middle School with such tremendously talented students. The Amazing Shake is a great opportunity for community members to help teach students about professional skills for success. It also allowed students to experience possible future career paths. Participants were able to demonstrate skills such as a proper handshake, eye contact, being able to work a room, and communication skills. Through the different scenarios, students were able to develop professional qualities they can use today and in the future. I am excited to take what I learned and see how I can create a similar experience for Graves County students."
